KOLKATA: West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of a teacher, his pregnant wife and 8-year-old son in Murshidabad district.
Bondhu Gopal Pal (35), his wife and 8-year-old son were hacked to death by "unidentified miscreants" inside their residence in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Tuesday.
The incident has shocked the conscience on account of its enormity. This is reflective of intolerance and worrisome law and order situation, according to the governor.
Dhankhar expressed his unhappiness over the situation and sought a report on the killing from the state government. In spite of enough time having gone by there has been no concern expressed by the Police or the State functionaries over such a serious issue, he said.
He urged the state authorities to treat the issue with seriousness. The governor has appropriately flagged the issue to the DGP and chief secretary for an urgent update on the situation, given its heartrending scenario. He called upon the investigating agency to probe in a fair manner.
